Don't you ever miss the innocence of childhood? I heard a song the other day that triggered memories of the television shows i dug as a kiddo. These are a few i used to gaze at for way too long.

I want a party with roomfuls of laughter, Ten thousand tons of ice cream, And if I don't get the things I am after, I'm going to screeeeeeeeeam

every weekend this month the salon is hosting a bake sale to help raise money for earth month. we need every bit we can get and what better way than through sweet treats?? this go 'round, i will be making chocolate covered pretzels. they are yummy, pretty, and fun to make. what else could you ask for in a treat?

here is the recipe i will be using
so simple, yet SO DELICIOUS:

Ingredients
1 12-ounce package milk chocolate chips
1 12-ounce package white chocolate chips
24 large pretzel rods
Assorted sprinkles (blue and green for earth month)
Directions
Place the milk chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and the white chocolate chips in another. Microwave one bowl on high for 1 minute. Remove and stir with a rubber spatula. (The chips should melt while you are stirring, but if they don't, you can continue to microwave for 15 more seconds, then stir again.) Wash and dry the spatula. Microwave the other bowl on high for 1 minute, and stir until the chocolate is melted.

Dip one pretzel rod into the milk chocolate; use a spoon or knife to spread the chocolate about halfway up the rod. Twist the rod to let the excess chocolate drip off. Hold the rod over a piece of wax paper and shake sprinkles on all sides. Place the pretzel on another piece of wax paper to dry. Coat another pretzel with white chocolate and sprinkles. Repeat until you've coated all the pretzels, half with milk chocolate, half with white chocolate, and let dry completely, about 24 hours.

bohemian baby

new inspiration came to mind today while my eyes were surfing the inter-web. i have become a bit obsessed with decorating our room. the new theme is bohemian. we kind of have that mis matched beachy/bohemian feel to it, now just "perfecting" and making it aesthetically pleasing is the hard part. i ordered a new tapestry for our bed from urban! i am so excited, i LOVE LOVE the bedding that i have but now that summer is quickly rolling in we need something lighter that won't end up on the floor every morning. so, that said, i have been searching for the perfect thin, bright, cute, colorful blanket. alas, urban outfitters had exactly what i was looking for. now the exceptionally hard part, finding the rest of the decor without spending any money AND keeping it clutter FREE!

mama said there'd be days like this

what was supposed to be one of the busiest days of my week has turned quite the opposite. it started with a giant cup of my favorite cuban coffee and a greek yogurt with honey. :) then off to class i went followed by work. that is where it came to a screeching halt. upon walking through the one aveda salon doors i clocked in only to see i had ZERO clients on my book today. hmph, better luck next time. so after waiting around a little while i ended up coming home, cleaning my house and doing laundry like a maniac. i proceeded to take the perros on a rather enjoyable walk around the hood and listen to she & him on repeat! i am currently digging this video pretty hard. <3

Earth Month

Instead of just celebrating Earth Day, AVEDA (the company I work for) celebrates the entire month. Every year the month of april is spent showing extra care and love for our Earth as we try to raise money that goes towards our water issues. This year AVEDA's in South Florida are raising money for the Everglades. Water and air quality problems have risen due to urban encroachment and associated pollution and expanded development including agricultural practices. This is just one of the many problems we are facing in our beloved Everglades. Here is a link to the site where you can read more about AVEDA Earth Month 2011. http://www.aveda.com/aboutaveda/earth_month.tmpl
